Widening Our Welcome—Embracing Trans and Nonbinary Members in our Community

Each year the UUA names a Common Read and prepares a study guide for groups to gather and discuss the book. This year it is Authentic Selves: Celebrating Trans and Nonbinary People and Their Families, with interviews by Peggy Gillespie.

Unitarian Universalism affirms people of a wide array of gender identities but throughout the country harmful legislation, acts of exclusion, and violence. Our UU Values call us to live with Love at the center. Learning more about the lives of others can help us turn fear into curiosity, discrimination into inclusion. It’s ok if you feel nervous about coming to this class. This is a place to learn. Knowledge can help us to widen our welcome.

The four-part series will be held Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at UUSS and online, February 9, March 2, March 16, and March 30. Copies of the book are available from the UUA website. For more info, call UUSS.
