UUSS Theme for May: Our Living Stories

We often say that Unitarian Universalism is a ‘Living Tradition’ but what do we mean by that? Primarily, it is a short-hand way to say that our non-creedal faith grows and changes over t ime. We not only make space for that, we expect it. When we know better, we do better. So, when we gather together for worship, for fun, for meaning-making, for celebrating our history and our unfolding, we are embodying our own living stories as well as the larger story we are writing and telling together. UUSS does not carry on though, without our intentional effort, financial generosity, and showing up. We are … because of those who came before us. And we are … because of who we are aspiring to become through what we’ve learned. Let us do all we can to ensure the story of UUSS continues, that the legacy and presence of Unitarian Universalism carries on long after our individual stories end.
