Love and Power

Brittany Packnett used this expression, “the divine union of love and power,” in her Ware Lecture for UUA General Assembly in 2018.  The reference came from the words of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Many of us know about Dr. King’s commitment to non-violence.  We may be less familiar with his understanding of the holy power of love to change hearts and minds.

About the Guest Minister:  The Rev. Sam Trumbore has served as the minister of the Albany Unitarian Universalist congregation for 23 years and will be retiring this June, though he will continue in his role as the Financial Secretary with the Unitarian Universalist Association’s Board of Trustees, for which he was elected last June.

A couple of fun facts about Rev. Sam:  He is a devoted Buddhist meditator and enjoys riding his recumbent bike. He has been married to licensed clinical social worker and trauma psychotherapist Philomena Moriarty for the last 33 years and they have a son Andrew who is 30. Also, Rev. Sam was born on Valentine’s Day, so he just celebrated his 66th birthday!
