Religious Education This Week – June 15th

Crossing the Bridge! Graduating seniors Will Comparin and Ethan Harder bridged this past Sunday, from Youth to Young Adult! Congratulations to both Will and Ethan! Rev. Lynn and Rev. Wendy led a beautiful service, celebrating these two awesome Youth and this important time in their lives, and in their parents’ lives. As a caterpillar goes into its cocoon, only to emerge a butterfly and take flight, Will and Ethan are embarking on their own flights into adulthood. Knowing their UUSS Family is always here for them.
Senior Youth (grades 9-12) will not be meeting this coming Sunday, 6/20. Our next meeting will be in person on 6/27, at noon, behind Waters House. Youth should bring masks and folding chairs.
Wizarding Camp! All wands at the ready! In a couple of weeks, young wizards from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, the US and Canada, will convene with 5 of our UUSS Children, 3 adult volunteers, and your DLRE, for a week of UUWA camp, or Univelarian University of Wizarding Arts! It’s going to be a week of fun and fantasy for kids, rooted in values of justice, action, unity, worth, courage, and possibility! The magic will be shared as the wizards in training hone their skills!
Happy Summer Solstice! Enjoy the longest day of the year and celebrate by basking in the sunshine, going strawberry picking, making a flower crown, making a rock sculpture, kayaking, going on a hike, or doing yoga in your yard or at the park. Take time to reflect a bit, and to look forward. Teach your child how to skip stones. Play in the rain. Make mud pies. Invite your children to look for signs of the glory of summer. Invite yourself too.
Please remember to wear a mask, socially distance, take time outside, and wash your hands!
