The first Story for All Ages and RE classes of the new church year took place this past Sunday, 9/16, and what a day it was! We had an amazing turnout–of Children, Youth, Teachers, Facilitators and Advisors! The Sr Youth room in Waters House was filled to the brim–with lots of Sr Youth and lots of good energy! The street crossing of 60+ people even went smoothly and safely! Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the first RE classes of the church year a success. We’ll be getting down to business this coming Sunday, when we’ll begin to delve into curricula and continue getting to know each other!

Grades 7 and 8 will be having a Sunday evening OWL class (Our Whole Lives sexuality education) beginning 11/18 (following the 11/16 working sleepover). There’s been some back and forth about whether or not we’re offering a fall Sunday morning RE class for these grades and–thanks to a creative solution–there WILL BE Sunday morning RE classes for grades 7 & 8! We’ll have a variety of lead teachers and teaching assistants working with the 7th and 8th graders on the You the Creator curriculum, which focuses on empowerment and creativity. Rev Wendy and Jenn D’Arcy led the first 7/8 class on Sunday. The classroom is on the third floor of Waters House. If you’d like a one-time shot (or two-time!) at leading or assisting in an RE class, please let me know. Dates and positions needed: 10/7, assistant; 10/21, lead and assistant; 11/4 and 11/11, assistants; and 12/2, lead and assistant. Great opportunities to see what RE’s all about, and we could sure use the support!

Senior Youth will have their regular class time this coming Sunday, 9/23, which will be followed by a drumming circle led by Rev Wendy! Sr Youth parents are invited to join the drumming circle for the first portion of the gathering and will then leave the Sr Youth to their drumming and move into a different space for a facilitated Sr Youth parent discussion. (Info on locations to follow.) Hope you’ll join us!

Registration for Fall Religious Education (RE) classes continues through Sunday, 9/30. If you haven’t already registered your child for RE, please be sure to do so asap.
