RE this week…August 14

Registration for Fall Religious Education (RE) classes is now available!
To register your K-12th child for fall RE, CLICK HERE!  If you have any questions, call (607) 435-2803 or email dlre@uuschenectady.org. RE classes begin Sunday, September 16, at 10:30, with the exception of Our Whole Lives (OWL) for grades 7/8 and 11/12, which will take place Sunday evenings from 6:30-8; there will be “regular” (lighter!) RE classes for grades 7/8 and 11/12 Sunday mornings at 10:30 as well. If you’re interested in being a part of RE, let me know–we have lots of volunteer opportunities!

The new church year will bring lots of opportunities for intergenerational connections! Youth and Children will join in Sunday morning services more frequently, both for Time for All Ages and for multigenerational services. We’ll be looking for a variety of voices to share in Time for All Ages as well, so be thinking about how you might like to share, maybe a favorite story you’d like to tell! The Children will also have several full-class Children’s Chapels in Waters House, where we’ll have chapel time, discussions, and time to work and play together.

Our Whole Lives: 7th and 8th grade OWL and 11th and 12th grade OWL classes will meet Sunday evenings at 6:30 beginning in September and running through June. A mandatory parent orientation will be scheduled soon. 7th and 8th graders will also have a fun, engaging curriculum to work with on Sunday mornings during the “regular” RE (Religious Education) time, at 10:30. And, the 11th and 12th graders will be joining their fellow Senior Youth members (9th and 10th graders) Sunday mornings at 10:30 for time together doing a variety of things–more to come!Teacher Training will take place Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 9:30. Location tbd.

Summertime summertime sum sum summertime…There’s still a little bit o’ summer left, and two sessions of Summer RE! Come, join the fun! Summer Religious Education for grades 1-5 continues Sundays through August 26 at 10:30, and will meet at Waters House. Here is the schedule:
8/19: Balloon Bonanza – Elaine and Tom Person & Maia Regan
8/26: Mindfulness -Tamara Geveci & Robin Ahearn, DLRE

I’d like to welcome Lienne Newsome to the core childcare provider staff! Lienne has worked with us as a substitute provider in the past and will now be one of the “regular” childcare providers, and we are delighted to have her on staff. Welcome aboard, Lienne!

The ministers and I are now taking Thursday as our sabbath day. I will be in the office Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and working from home on Friday. I will, of course, be available for special church events.
