We’re planning a more robust RE program for 2023-24, with plans for each grade level. We’ll run sessions of Our Whole Lives (OWL) at the Junior High, the 4th /5th and the K/1 level. The Junior High level runs the entire year; the others are 9 weeks long and we’ll run those in the spring. We’ll also transition from the Coming of Age program to a High School Youth Group.
I have met with a group of engaged parents, teachers, and youth to vision and strategize for next year.
- We have ideas to enlarge the enrollment pool for our Jr High OWL.
- We’d like to offer RE for each age every Sunday that’s not a multigenerational Sunday.
- We’d like to lighten the load for RE teachers by having teams of 4.
- We have ideas for fun and flexible curriculum for the elementary grades.
- With teams of 4 that means that if you’ve never taught RE before, you’ll have other adults who can mentor you.
- If you are a trained OWL facilitator, please consider teaching next year.
We would like to have a program and volunteers in place for my successor before I leave UUSS.
