We’d like to offer Religious Education sessions (RE) for each age every Sunday that’s not a multigenerational Sunday. The plan is to offer RE 2 or 3 Sundays a month with multigenerational worship services, plus or multi-age Children’s Chaples or Faithful Fundays other Sundays. That means even with teams of 3, each team member can expect to volunteer only one of two Sunday mornings a month. We’ll need other volunteers to help with multi-age programming.
We’re very close to having all the volunteer teachers for the fall; we just need one or two more. You don’t need to be an “expert” in UU-ism to teach – just a wiliness to work with other adults and desire to connect with children and youth. You can volunteer on a team for your own children’s class or a different one. To those of you who have already signed up to be on a teaching team, thank you.
We’re planning to have sessions of Our Whole Lives (OWL) at the Junior High, the 5th/6th grade; and the K/1 levels. The Junior High level runs the entire year; the others are 9 weeks long and we’ll run those in the spring, starting in February. Many thanks to our OWL facilitators who have done special training and make a bigger commitment.
We’ll transition from the Coming of Age program to a High School Youth Group. We’re thinking of focusing on service projects and occasional overnights at the church building. Does working with youth appeal to you? We need volunteers for this group. The next step is for me to meet with parents and caregivers of high school youth. Here’s a poll to find a time to meet with Leah. Please fill it out today.
