This week, our Central East Region put out a note and some resources reminding us all of the importance of UU congregations working to be welcoming and inclusive for the transgender and gender expansive folx in our communities.
If you are interested in learning more, you can register to attend the Beyond the Binaryconference in April. Or you can check out the resources from the Transforming Hearts Collective. The UUA also offers a supportive space through their UPLIFT gatherings and programs.
Trans people were already at risk and the risk has grown exponentially since MLK Day. Our faith celebrates and affirms a wide array of gender expressions and identities…and most of us have some learning to do to really be an ally for gender expression and gender justice. It’s so exciting that 27 people are enrolled in the UUA Common Read class. You can get your own copy of Authentic Selves at the UUA Bookstore. You could take a Trans Etiquette Training offered by the UUs in Akron, OH. Or this class led by UUs on Widening Our Welcome so we can draw our circle of inclusion wider still.
