November Theme: Resilience

The American Psychological Association says, “Resilience is the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands.” How resilient we feel is impacted by how connected we are to others and whether we have and employ strategies to cope with the challenges life throws our way. How equipped are we to strategize and respond to our personal crises, congregational and cultural crises, economic and environmental crises? As researcher and Brené Brown notes, it is far easier to criticize others and ourselves than to get into the arena of life and give it our best effort. What helps us get out of the cheap seats of criticism and cynicism and into the braver spaces of love and connection? What helps you to feel more resilient?
