On Saturday, June 3rd, picnic with us and then take an hour walk, led by resident geologist George Shaw, on gravel or paved paths to view the stream and springs at Saratoga Springs State Park. Bring your own lunch and water bottle, with optional fruit and/or cookies to share. Comfortable shoes, sunscreen and insect repellent advised. Gather at 11:30 for lunch. Walk will begin at 12:30. After that, if interested, you are invited to take a 10 minute drive to a roadside fossil site where you can view exposed ancient stromatolite fossils. Rain date is June 17. RSVP or get more info: call Paula Shaw at 518 382 2065; cell 518 847 2927 or email her at georgeandpaula@icloud.com.
Directions to June 3 outing: On Rt 50 just south of SPAC, there is a sign for Saratoga Spa State Park. If heading north on Rt 50, turn right there onto E West Rd. If heading south, turn left. Follow E West Rd. until you come to Geyser Loop Rd. (.6 mi). Go left onto Geyser Loop Rd. and continue a short way until you come to a small information center called Creekside Classroom next to a large parking lot. We will meet in that parking lot and picnic nearby. The information center bathrooms are open. Contact Paula Shaw (see above) for more details.
