Field Trip to the Underground Railroad Education Center with EBWA
The Evening Branch of the Women’s Alliance (EBWA) June program will be a Field Trip to the Underground Railroad Education Center”
June 11, 5-7pm, with Paul Stewart, Co-founder of the Center
(Bring your own bag supper for an informal picnic after the tour.)
Join us on June 11th at 5 pm for a visit to the Underground Railroad Education Center in Albany. The center is located at 194 Livingston Avenue, the former home of Stephen and Harriet Myers, and headquarters for Underground Railroad activity in the Capital Region in the mid-1850s. Paul Stewart, cofounder of the center, will give us a 90-minute guided tour. We will then gather (rain or shine, outside the building in an uncovered picnic area) for a brown bag supper and networking. — All are welcome to join us as we visit this unique education center and learn about this important aspect of our local and national history.
Admission to the center is $14 for adults and $12 for seniors; EBWA sponsors will receive a $5 discount, meaning they will pay either $9 or $7 at the door. (Please try to bring exact change.) There is a lift available for those who have difficulty with stairs. While reservations are not required, in order to have some idea of how many people to expect, please RSVP by emailing Gabrielle Reals by Tuesday, June 9 to let us know you’ll be attending. If you forget to do this, we urge you to come anyway!
Street parking is available on Livingston Ave. and also at 95 Third St. If you’d like to car pool to the center, meet at UUSS parking lot at 4:00 pm. We will leave at 4:15.
