Ed Kautz Memorial CROP Hunger Walk Team
May 7, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
On May 7 at 1pm, we’ll walk so others can eat. This year, we also walk in honor the late Ed Kautz, beloved member of UUSS and long-time Crop Hunger Walk volunteer.
CROP Hunger Walks are community-based walk fundraising events held in cities and towns across the United States, created to support the global mission of Church World Service, a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement, and disaster. After a CROP Hunger Walk ends, 25% of the funds raised is returned to the host community to support local hunger fighting efforts. UU Schenectady will join other teams across the capital district as part the 2023 Phil Grigsby CROP Hunger Walk, benefiting SiCM (Schenectady Community Ministries).
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, an estimated 2.3 billion people worldwide do not have access to adequate food. No one person can change the world, but we can change the lives of 100, 500, maybe 1,000 people who won’t have to worry about being hungry tomorrow, next week, next month, next year. Walk. Donate. Change the world.
