EBWA’s April Program: Food Bank 101

April 27, 2023 @ 6:45 pm - 9:00 pm

Food Bank 101: What the Regional Food Bank Does and the State of Food Insecurity in Our Region. Speaker: Molly Nicol, Chief Executive Officer, Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York
Molly Nicol has been Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Food Bank since June 2021. She has decades of experience from both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, including Saint Gregory’s School, Catholic Charities, Albany Med, and 16 years at IBM. Having served on the Board of Directors of the Food Bank since 2014, most recently she served as the Interim Director of the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and assisted the Food Bank with operations and philanthropic efforts during the pandemic. As CEO she takes on the strategic, big-picture responsibilities of the organization, including overseeing its employees and volunteers. There are 125 employees and 12,000 volunteers, and according to Molly, “They are the best human beings I’ve ever gotten to work with.” — All who identify as women are welcome to join us for our second in-person meeting of EBWA (Evening Branch of the Women’s Alliance) this year. Come and hear this interesting program about a critically important organization.
Although we are still unable to offer dinner as we have in the past, we will serve coffee, tea, and dessert before the program. We urge you to arrive by 6:45 pm (use the back door to the church, off the parking lot) so that everyone can greet each other and settle in before Molly’s talk begins shortly after 7 pm. Following the presentation, there will be time for questions.  Networking (when each woman may share something of interest with the group) will begin around 8:15, and the meeting will end no later than 9pm.
While reservations are not required, in order to have some idea of how many people to expect, it would be helpful if you would email Gabrielle Reals at ellegr3@gmail.com to let us know you are coming. As a reminder, there has been no charge for EBWA programs this year, but in order for us to be able to pay our speakers an honorarium, we need your help. Please consider subscribing by sending a $30 check made out to EBWA to Carol Furman (contact her at cfurm13@gmail.com to learn where to send your check). Those who have subscribed may attend the remaining in-person meetings this year for free. All others will be asked to contribute $5 toward our costs, at the door.
