EBWA Program: Librarian/Historian Tisha Dalton shares stories of two local suffragists
January 25 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Columbia’s Daughters: The Political Equality Clubs of Warren and Washington Counties 1891-1917
Speaker: Tisha Dalton, Librarian/Historian at the Folklife Center, Crandall Public Library, Glens Falls
Born and raised in Washington County, NY, Tish Dalton has worked as an interpretive ranger at Saratoga National Historical Park, the Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site, and at numerous museums and historic sites in San Diego, CA. She served as the appointed Public Historian for the Town of Greenwich, NY from 2003-2019, is a Trustee of the Warren County (NY) Historical Society, and is co-founder and chair of the Celebrating Suffrage in Greater Glens Falls Committee which creates and promotes suffrage and women’s history events in the region. Her research focuses on suffrage songs and pageants, suffrage and study clubs in Upstate NY, and redwork embroidery. At our January 25 meeting, Tish will speak about two little-known suffragists in two rural counties in Upstate NY at the turn of the last century. All who identify as women are welcome to join us on Zoom to hear this interesting presentation.
While we plan to resume in-person meetings in March, we will meet on Zoom this January and February. If you already receive EBWA announcements from Judy Clough, you will automatically be sent the zoom invitation and do not need to request one. If you do not usually get EBWA email announcements, please email Judy at mimaclough@yahoo.com by Tuesday, January 23 to receive an invitation to join the program on Zoom.
Sign into the meeting between 6:50 and 7:00pm. After welcoming remarks, the speaker will be introduced. Following the presentation, there will be time for questions. Networking (when each woman may share something of interest with the group) will begin around 8:15, and the meeting will end no later than 9pm. There is no charge for EBWA programs offered on Zoom, but in order for us to be able to pay our speakers an honorarium, we need your help. Please consider subscribing by sending a $30 check made out to EBWA to Carol Furman (contact her at cfurm13@gmail.com to learn where to send your check).
