EBWA presents: Music for Community Development
April 24 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
“Music for Community Development”—
April 24, 6:30-9pm, in the church dining room
Speaker: Zoë Auerbach, Empire State Youth Orchestra CHIME Director
In 2015 the Empire State Youth Orchestra launched CHIME (Creating Harmony, Inspiring Musical Empowerment) in Schenectady to address fundamental inequities preventing universal access to high level musical opportunities. Beginning with a cohort of 30 young people, today this free after-school program serves approximately 150 students yearly. CHIME blends music with social-emotional learning, empowering young musicians to grow both as artists and as confident, expressive individuals. Our speaker, Zoë Auerbach, is a violinist, teacher and arts leader. A dedicated and passionate teacher, she maintains a large violin/viola studio in Tivoli, NY and since 2021, she has been the CHIME & Young Leaders Director at Empire State Youth Orchestra (ESYO). — All who identify as women are invited to join us for this exciting program!
Refreshments and time to socialize provided at 6:30. Program starts at 7. Questions and networking after the program. Please email Gabrielle Reals by Tuesday, April 22, to RSVP. Free for EBWA sponsors, $5 at the door for others (walk-ins are welcome!)
Looking ahead: Our May 15 (note earlier than usual date) program will feature Sandra Foyt, local author and photographer, whose topic will be “100 Things to Do in Albany Before You Die.” On June 12 we will take a field trip will be to the Pine Bush Discovery Center. Details for both programs will appear in the May and June Circuits.
