Discussion of Jhumpa Lahiri’s The Interpreter of Maladies.
In 1999, Bengali/Indian immigrant American Jhumpa Lahiri published her first book of short stories, The Interpreter of Maladies (198 pages). While she did not plan to write about culture clashes, she wrote about her experiences reconciling her dual American-Indian identities.
