COVID Update March 8, 2022

Covid metrics, according to CovidActNow.org, which we’ve been using for several months now, have Schenectady County solidly in its “medium” status, which is excellent news! On Feb. 27, we had space for 40 people to attend in-person worship in the Great Hall, and we had 18 folks sign up. On Mar. 6, we increased that number to 50, and we had 36 sign up. It was very busy and lots of folks were visiting and chatting. After so much quiet between covid and the fire, we’re all learning how to be in this new reality. Some of us have been visiting or going to school for some time. Others of us are feeling a bit trepidatious. Just like with our faith and everyone having different searches for truth and meaning, so too, we each have our own journey towards feeling safe enough to be around others indoors. We honor your (and our own!) process and hope that if you live locally, we will get to see you in the Great Hall, on a Sunday, soon.
As noted last week, we are about to have a major audio/visual technology installation. Ever wondered how that technology works? Or maybe you have a friend who really enjoys that and might be looking for a Sunday morning gig. We are looking for folks who can be trained on the new equipment. Let us know if you or someone you know is interested. We had two folks express interest this past weekend! We’ll need a crew of folks so the load is shared throughout the month.
This Sunday, we start-off Stewardship Season. All ages are welcome, masked or on Zoom. We are going to have some live music and an online special surprise. We hope your family will attend in the Great Hall if your circumstances allow – sign ups are strongly encouraged: https://rsvp.church/r/WEEzBkAD You are welcome to bring a water bottle, if you’d like. Don’t forget your mask so that we can continue to provide extra protection to the most vulnerable among us.
And if you are a person who has been feeling less connected, we offer an extra warm invitation! Connection is strengthened when we show up for each other. Don’t wait. Show up on Sunday either in the Great Hall or on Zoom so we can connect through love and nurture the flame of this religious community.
Youth Group will meet in-person starting this Sunday, and in-person classes for K-8th will begin on March 20! It will still be a while before we can staff the nursery. As always, all ages are welcome in the Great Hall.
If you or someone in your family has any signs, symptoms, or may have been exposed to anyone with Covid, please don’t come to UUSS, but do let us know if you could use any support. It’s up to all of us to care for all of UUSS! -Rev. Wendy and Rev. Lynn
