This past weekend we had the honor of offering the Charge to the Congregation at the installation service for the Plattsburgh congregation and the Rev. Nicoline Guerrier. They have worked together for four years and finally decided to take a leap of faith and commit more deeply to one another in shared ministry. The ceremony includes a covenant, promises they are making to one another, just as our installation here did.
As part of our Charge to them, we reminded this small congregation near the border of Canada, that they are not alone. They are part of the Central East Region (so is UUSS). Their Congregational Life Staff is the Rev. Evin Carvill-Ziemer (same for UUSS). Rev. Nicoline is a member of the St. Lawrence Chapter of the UU Ministers Association (UUMA). So are we. And both congregations are part of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)!
We are interdependent with one another. The ministries of the congregation are shared and connected. And democracy matters. The vote to call a minister (or ministers) is an important part of our congregational polity.
As we watch the beauty of the changing leaves, we are reminded that we are all interdependent and that each 1 matters.
With faith,
Rev. Wendy and Rev. Lynn
