Co-Ministers Colloquy -November 27th

Dear UUSS community~

This past Sunday evening we were grateful to be part of the Schenectady Clergy Against Hate Thanksgiving service. It is such a gift to be part of a community where each can bring traditions from their faith and we can experience the strength and beauty in our differences, and the commitment and respect of our shared humanity.

As Unitarian Universalists, we have the opportunity to practice that every time we gather, knowing that within our congregation there are many beliefs, and many different ways to live our faith and the values we share. Right now, we have an opportunity to put our faith into action in a particular way. There is a humanitarian crisis at the US southern border and our government is choosing to do reprehensibly immoral and evil things. Our second principle affirms justice, equity, and compassion in human relations, and right now, those qualities are sorely needed.

What can you do? Call and write your elected officials, and ask for an end to the militarization of our borders. Call or write other elected officials too! Donate to organizations, like the UU Service Committee, or the Sanctuary Caravan, who are providing support to those who have chosen to leave their homes and communities that are unsafe. Participate or volunteer, at the border, in a call to action in San Diego the week of Dec. 10th, or help organize or participate in a local solidarity action. Learn more about the reasons people are choosing to make this difficult and long journey, so that you can talk with those who are wanting to keep them from safely entering the US. Be an advocate for compassion, equity, and justice. In faith~ Rev. Lynn and Rev. Wendy
