On this day after the election, we are feeling so grateful for all of you who participated in #UUtheVote, writing cards and letters, text banking, phone banking, knocking on doors, registering voters, being a poll worker, painting messages on stones to “rock the vote”, and to all of you who cast a ballot. We know that some of you have been pouring your time and energy into local and state elections, and that some of you are feeling very disappointed, or a mix of sadness and relief. You aren’t alone.
Together, UUSS didn’t just affirm a democratic process, we participated in it! Huge thanks to Kat Wolfram, Rosemary Bishop, and Lars Dahl, who coordinated and led #UUtheVote at UUSS, with more than 25% of the congregation participating, and meeting the goals to become a Good Trouble congregation in the process.
As results continue to come in across the nation, we encourage you to make some space for the hopes and the worries, the joys and the sorrows that arise. Resiliency comes more easily when we acknowledge how we are feeling, and share with others, if that feels like the right thing for you. We hope to see you on Sunday at worship, where there are new as well as returning folks each week. Together, we make a bigger difference.
With gratitude, with care, and with hope~
