Transylvanian Unitarians in Marosvásárhely
Marosvásárhely is a beautiful city with many superb cultural treasures. Among them are the City Hall and Culture Palace, pictured here:
The traditional emblem found in all Transylvanian Unitarian churches is a dove on a mountain top encircled by a serpent, with a crown on top. The symbolic meaning comes from the bible: in Matthew 10:16, Jesus says to his disciples: “Behold I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”
The older Unitarian church in Marosvásárhely was built during 1929 and 1930. Visitors from the FUSS Partner Church Committee attended a service in this church in 2003, with a sermon given by Rev. Russ Savage.
The FUSS visitors received a warm welcome to Marosvásárhely in 2003.
