Caring for One Another

This week, SCOTUS continues to make rulings, some of which are harder than others to fathom. Today, they made a ruling about transgender girls and women in sports. While the Administration has continued to do heinous things regarding people who do not conform to the gender binary, Unitarian Universalism affirms the many beautiful expressions of gender. Sam Ames is a lifelong UU and attorney who often makes brilliant statements about SCOTUS rulings. We are dancing along the gender spectrum alongside so many of you, knowing that we all get more free when we liberate ourselves from limited thinking and the oppression of fear-mongering. Justice Sotomayor notes in her dissent, “…the majority extends great sympathy to those it favors: the young cisgender girls and women who play sports. Because the majority, however, inflicts a hardship on those it disfavors without giving them the fair and full opportunity the Constitution requires to litigate their contentions, I respectfully dissent.” We just got these fabulous t-shirts from the UUA bookstore if you would find one meaningful. It’s a great shirt for anyone to wear but especially those who want to put Love at the center and we who want to live with compassion, justice, and joy! ‘There are more ways to be a person than empire can imagine.’

With love,
