October’s Theme – Now and for the Long Haul

Capitalism and consumerism have trained us to want immediate gratification. And some things, like relationships and democracy, take time and effort and vigilance, not just today, but everyday. We need to tend to our relationships with ourselves, with one another, with Unitarian Universalism, and with the Holy/Great Mystery/Spirit of Life/Love at the Center/the Best of Human Essence. We need skills and to build skills we need practice. Being in community, practicing being human day unto day, we can engage in forgiveness, make loving courageous decisions, and create and live by our covenants. We can commit to this day and for the days to come; now and for the long haul.
