September’s theme is Start Where We Are and this past Sunday, members of the Survive and Thrive Team shared reflections on their experiences with social change work. We acknowledged the importance of the framework that Deepa Iyer has created to think about that work from a perspective of ecosystems. We need each of us to engage in ways that illumine our gifts, help us grow, tend to our relationships, and strengthen our UU values and the ways we live them out loud.
Her book Social Change: A Guide for Reflection and Connection is this year’s UUA Common Read. The Survive and Thrive Team will be leading this 3-4 session class later this fall. You can purchase your copy of the book at the UUA bookstore so you can start reading and reflecting now.
You can also learn a bit more about it from this video from our UUA President the Rev. Dr. Sofía Betancourt.
As we begin a new congregational year together in the midst of national turmoil, it matters that we gather. It matters that we show up together to meet this moment. We hope to see you Sunday-or sometime soon!
