Our Co-ministers, the Rev. Lynn Gardner and the Rev. Wendy Bartel are on study leave. As the UUA describes it, “In recognition that Ministers need extended time away from the stresses and demands of daily congregational life to deepen their calling and develop their skills, the Minister will have four weeks (or the equivalent number of working days) of study leave per year. Study leave may include, but is not limited to, spiritual retreat, spiritual practices, continuing education, attending conferences and trainings, work-related reading and planning, study groups, writing, pilgrimage, or teaching/preaching at locations away from the minister’s primary congregation.”
This week Wendy and Lynn will be focused on mapping out this year’s worship schedule, as well as doing some research and writing on initial ideas connected with this year’s worship themes. There are also several projects needing their attention, including time and space to reflect on the toll and the impact of the last 2.5 years on them, this congregation, the denomination, and the wider society; covenant; justice work grounded in our UU faith; preparations for the Board Retreat; and the dynamics of congregational life after such a stressful time.
