Upcoming RE Classes:
K-6 Experiences with the Web of Life: These nature lovers will meet again Sunday morning, 11/21, from 9:30-10:15.
Here’s their “assignment” from this past Sunday’s class. Please have your child complete the assignment so they can most fully engage in class.
- Find insects in your special place or nearby: Look: on plants, in the air; dig, turn over rocks.
- For each item found, write down in your journal: Name (if you know it), drawing, and/or description.
- If you don’t find any, look in books, magazines and newspapers. Add a few found items to your journal.
An excerpt from a 10/31 K-6 email from teacher Joel Best:
“We had a great class today. Lots of kids and lots of enthusiasm. We lit our chalice, shared costumes and went over the ongoing project. The kids really like the magnifying glasses and journals! We shared two videos; one a time-lapse video of changing seasons and one about why leaves change color in fall. Then we talked about things in nature that are alive, were once alive and were never alive. (The kids had lots of great comments about this subject, especially when it came to the subject of plastic.) They’ll also check their plots of land to see what they can find to fit each category. Finally, we shared a breath and blew out our chalices.
“The class is starting off strong. It looks to be a fun year.”
7/8 The Fifth Dimension: Their next meeting is Sunday morning, 11/21, from 9:15-10:15. Come, join The Fifth Dimension for some Twilight Zone fun!
8/9 OWL: This group’s next meeting is Sunday evening, 11/14, from 7-9.
