Dear UU Schenectady~
This past Sunday was powerful, for many reasons. The Coming of Age service was creative and inspiring. Our young people had really important things to say about what it means to be a UU and what it means to grapple with some of life’s bigger questions of meaning. They were inspiring and brave to share in our virtual format and so were the facilitators who took on the challenge of holding the last several classes via Zoom. What a blessing these folks are in our community.
The service was followed by the Congregational Meeting. On a beautiful spring Sunday afternoon, 101 members as well as few friendly observers and staff members devoted an hour and a half to attend to the business of our shared religious community.
As Christy Multer noted in a Facebook post, (shared here with permission,) “The meeting went so smoothly!….But it felt like something deeper was happening too. I loved hearing each individual’s voice — so many voices that I recognized! Almost felt like we were back in the Great Hall. It felt as though we really were a community determined to pull together and each do our positive bit for the good of the congregation.”
Thank you to all those who made it possible. It is helpful to remember how powerful our connections can still be, even when we are meeting virtually.
With appreciation,
Rev. Lynn and Rev. Wendy
