EBWA Program – December 14th Betsy Colt Foot: One Woman’s Radical Quest to Provide Girls an Education

Louise Marks will present a one-woman play about the life of Betsy Colt Foot, who was instrumental in making a girls’ school a possibility: the Albany Academy for Girls. Having written an interesting book about Betsy, “To Elevate and Adorn the Mind,” Louise will portray Betsy as she lived in 1814. Louise is herself a graduate of the Albany Academy. She is also an associate professor emerita of sociology, psychology, and mental health at North Country Community College in Saranac Lake. All women are welcome to come and enjoy this unique program.
