A Place For Folk: February 24

A Place For Folk warmly invites you to join us on Friday February 24th, 2017 at 7:30pm for an evening with Chris Wilson. Chris is a native of New Yorker who gained celebrity status for his vocally driven songwriting and passionate live performances first bursting onto the scene on the MTV show called “The Cut.” He became 1 of only 10 artists to win their way to the finals from a field of 160 competitors and over 10 thousand hopefuls from around the world. Chris went on to win MTV’s “Viewer’s Choice Award” for his performance in the finals. His powerful vocals set him apart from anyone in his genre today. His songwriting serves his voice perfectly, with a blend of power and simplicity. Chris’ music is, simply put, honest and emotional. Just wait till you hear his acoustic rendition of “I Will Survive” (made well known by disco legend Gloria Gaynor.) It’s awesome.

Opening for Chris is Judy Kass who is also a NY based singer-songwriter and quickly draws in her audience with soulful vocals, no-nonsense lyrical storytelling and genre-bending exploration of guitar and piano. Her original music blends generous amounts of folk, jazz and blues with songs that cover the full gamut of mood and experience.
