Religious Education This Week – April 20th

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
RE Online Wizarding Camp! Children 5-13; 6/28-7/2/21.
Calling all wizards! Univelarian University of Wizarding Arts (or UUWA for short) is coming to the Unitarian Universalist Society of Schenectady! Spend a week in the world of wonder, magic, play, and UU values.
Looking for a safe way to play this summer? UUWA is a virtual wizarding program — a week of fun and fantasy for kids, rooted in values of justice, action, unity, worth, courage, and possibility. The deadline to register is 5/28. Here’s the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1oUpiI9Crwq8JYXYbxVnZsmwklZC2VPZxdxOep4Wvglg/edit
Free to UUSS member families!*  *The cost for non-member families is $150/first child; $100/additional child; financial assistance available if needed.
A fun activity for all ages: You might know it as a “cootie catcher” or a “fortune teller.” This is a slightly different UU version—check it out!

Aninger Fund
The Aninger Fund is a trust fund created for the purpose of supporting leadership opportunities for junior and senior youth of our congregation. The Aningers were two brothers, William and Alfred, who left money to foster leadership in religious education. These funds are meant to provide scholarships to individuals whose leadership potential could benefit from attendance or participation in an activity but need financial help.
Some excellent opportunities are available through UUA (UU Association) and CER (Central East Region) and include but are not limited to: River Rising, General Assembly, Summer Seminary (youth), Multicultural Leadership School (youth), and youth conferences. The spring deadline for both individual AND group applications is May 1st, for review at the May RE Team meeting. Applications received after the May 1st deadline will not be considered until the fall (if they are still relevant). Applications may be downloaded through the UUSS website. Applications should be submitted to Director of Lifespan Religious Education Robin Ahearn at dlre@uuschenectady.org.
