Green Sanctuary lecture Feb 15 & park outing Feb 20

The outing to Saratoga Spa State Park on February 20th begins at 1:30PM at the park. We spoke with a park administrator to confirm there are indeed bathrooms, the skating pond is not open yet this year, but the warming hut is open. They rent snowshoes and recommend “spikes” over a boot for hiking. The loop down by the geysers is open and there is a ring road to hike on. The drive afterward to the ancient fossils (in Lester Park) is about 10 minutes. Contact Paula Shaw (email: georgeandpaula@icloud.com or phone: 518 847 2927) for more info or visit the Green Sanctuary table after the service. Alternate date: 2/26.
The next Union College in person environmental lecture in the Nott Memorial will be at 5:00PM on February 15th. The speaker is Professor Sonali McDermid from NYU. The topic will be adapting crops to climate change while reducing GHG’s. (Google: “2023 Union College Winter Seminar Series” for more info.
