DESCRIPTION:Meet the Moment is a framework created by the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) for collective conversation\, discernment\, and strategizing about how our faith can be its most impactful in the context of new realities for Unitarian Universalism\, religious life in North America\, and the geopolitical landscape. \nWe will nourish our bodies with a potluck lunch. And\, we will nourish our relationships with deep conversations guided by three questions intended for us to learn more about ourselves and one another\, deepen our Unitarian Universalist identity\, and strategize about what collective gifts and resources we have and how we might employ them effectively and meaningfully in alignment with our faith and our UUSS mission. SUMMARY:Women of the Saratoga Campaign (EBWA's January program)
DESCRIPTION:The Evening Branch of Women’s Alliance (EBWA) January program will be Women of the Saratoga Campaign\, presented by Anne Clothier\, Assistant to the Saratoga County Historian. \nMany know the story of British General John Burgoyne’s Surrender to the Americans after the Battles of Saratoga in 1777\, commonly referred to as the Turning Point of the American Revolution\, but what about the women who were also involved in this crucial campaign? This month’s EBWA program focuses on lesser known stories of women on both sides of the conflict and shares their perspectives on ways their lives were forever changed by these events. \nOur speaker Anne Clothier grew up immersed in history on her family’s 200-year-old farm in northern Saratoga County. She earned her B.S. degree in History from SUNY-Oneonta\, and while attending the Cooperstown Graduate Program in Museum Studies\, she worked on projects at the Farmers’ Museum\, Fenimore Art Museum\, and NYS Historical Association. She served as Director of Education at the Brookside Museum in Ballston Spa for over a decade before becoming Assistant to the Saratoga County Historian in 2024. All are invited to join us for what promises to be a fascinating program of the Evening Branch of the Women’s Alliance (EBWA). \nWhile we plan to resume in-person meetings in March\, we will meet on Zoom in January and February. If you already receive EBWA announcements from Judy Clough\, or Daytime Alliance announcements from Christy Multer\, you will automatically be sent the Zoom invitation and do not need to request one. If you do not usually get these email announcements\, please email Judy Clough by Tuesday\, January 27 to receive an invitation to join the Zoom program. \nSign into the meeting between 6:50 and 7:00pm. After welcoming remarks\, the speaker will be introduced. Following the presentation\, there will be time for questions. Networking (when each attendee may share something of interest with the group) will begin around 8:15\, and the meeting will end no later than 9pm. \nLooking ahead: On Feb. 26 our program\, “The NYS Abortion Landscape Since the Dobbs Decision\,” will be presented by Cassandra Klewicki\, Reproductive Justice Advocate. \nTo see the full calendar of EBWA programs for 2025-2026\, click here.
