SUMMARY:Ukrainian Pysanky: A Visual Prayer
DESCRIPTION:On April 23\, 6:30-9pm\, Ukrainian Egg Artist Susan Malinchak Schmitt will offer a presentation on the art of Ukrainian Easter Eggs. \nSusan has been creating Pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs) for over 62 years. She was born in Passaic\, NJ and spent her childhood absorbing the rich culture and traditions of her Ukrainian heritage\, which is expressed through her designs. \nShe holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Caldwell University\, including a semester of independent study in batik and Pysanky. Her presentation will be about the history\, cultural traditions\, folktales\, Easter customs and the creative process behind the Pysanka. She will bring along some of her eggs to show us and will explain and demonstrate the process involved in creating these eggs. — All who identify as women are invited to come to EBWA (the Evening Branch of the Women’s Alliance) to hear about this interesting subject. \nWe will serve coffee\, tea\, and dessert before the program. We urge you to arrive by 6:30 pm for time to socialize before the program begins at 7 pm. Following the presentation\, there will be time for questions. Networking (when each person may share something of interest with the group) will begin around 8:15\, and the meeting will end no later than 9 pm. \nWhile reservations are not required\, in order to have some idea of how many people to expect\, it would be helpful if you would email Gabrielle Reals at ellegr3@gmail.com  by Tuesday\, April 21\, to let us know you are coming.  (If you forget to do this\, we urge you to come anyway!)  Those who have subscribed may attend the in-person meetings for free.  All others will be asked to contribute $5 toward our costs\, at the door. \nTo see the full calendar of EBWA programs for 2025-2026\, click HERE. \nLooking ahead: Our May 28th program will be “Zentangle: The Art of Meditative Line and Pattern Drawing\,” featuring Linda Fasano\, Certified Zentangle Teacher.
