Co-Ministers’ Colloquy – Nov. 2nd

Dear UUSS~
It is a beautiful and chilly November day…. and the large maple tree that we can see from our office has turned from green to bright yellow in the past week. We hope that there is beauty in your day, as well. Big thanks to all those who are participating in today’s elections, whether it was working on a campaign, voter registration, attending a discussion on issues, working at the polls, or casting a vote.
At last night’s Samhain gathering, Melissa MacKinnon invited those present to share in a ritual of transformation, first, by setting an intention; second, by writing/marking that intention on paper; third, placing the paper into a fire, and lastly, by acting on that intention. Voting is a bit like that. We vote our values… and no matter which way a vote goes, we also need to follow that up with our action and support in order to bring about actual change or to transform a system or to enact more compassion in the world. If we don’t build the bridge between what we hope for and the work we are willing to do to make it happen, things don’t transform.
With hope, and in faith~
