A Prayer for All Earth

Beloved One, We give thanks for the many gifts you provide to sustain all of life. The miraculous blossoms of Spring, the nourishment of Summer, the bountiful harvests in Autumn, the rest and dormancy of Winter, and the opposite of that in your Southern Hemisphere! We have come to know of the harm that has been wreaked upon you through deforestation of rainforests to feed cows; the decimation of sacred Native lands to extract and pipe oil, etc; the spraying of poisons like Round-up to have ‘nicer’ lawns; and so many other horrible actions both local and global, intentional and unintentional but nonetheless still impactful.

We have and are casting out too much CO2 and you would be well within an ethical framework to expel humans from your biosphere. If we do not massively change our ways, we likely will help you all too soon in that endeavor and expel ourselves through famine, severe weather, devastating fires, droughts, and war as we fight over diminishing resources.

May we have the courage to re-imagine and then create a world where sustainability and mutual accountability are the methods of the day, where our love for one another is exceeded by our love for you precious Earth that is evidenced by our subtracting ourselves from fossil fuels and from toxic masculinity that harms humans and the Earth, when some act as if dominance and destruction are acceptable.

May we humble ourselves and re-learn, or learn anew how to live in deep harmony with You, how to use our power and resources accountably and for the betterment of all Life, and how to allow greed, abuse, exploitation, corruption, and oppression to go extinct.

For all of the blessings you bestow upon us generation after generation, we offer profound gratitude.
