Co-Ministers’ Colloquy – April 13th

Greetings UU Schenectady,
Today, we want to highlight a couple of key things- First-We wanted to share an update with you-this year’s Stewardship Campaign is in the final sweep. We have 157 of 210 pledges and only $390k of our $475k goal. Many people, One Community in Extraordinary Times. Your congregation needs your financial support to thrive and if you have been financially impacted by COVID and can’t make a pledge, contact us right now and request a waiver. Waivers are for one year so if you need to extend your current waiver-contact us. We need to update our spreadsheets so the dedicated volunteers on the Stewardship Ministry Team can conclude their work.
See the link below to pledge or simply call our wonderful Administrator Susan Marino and make your pledge. Every single dollar helps the Board plan for the coming year and we are facing a significant deficit budget.
When we closed the buildings on March 12, 2020, it was clean. Things ceased to happen or they adapted to an online version. In the words of our friend and colleague, the Rev. Julia Hamilton in Santa Barbara, CA-Re-opening will be much messier. We will try things, make mistakes and learn things, and more information will continue to reveal itself over time about how to keep one another as safe as we can. We are relying on the wisdom and work of other congregations and the Unitarian Universalist Association as well as science and the Center for Disease Control to make wise decisions.
We have convened a COVID-19 Prevention and Response Team (CPR Team) who has met a few times to begin imagining the future and within them, we have created three sub-teams to work towards the slow and intentional process that re-opening will be. Details about those three sub-teams will be forthcoming.
Because things are changing with variants, vaccination availability, impacts of falling short in the stewardship campaign, and surges in cases, the re-opening will be in phases just as it has been with the state. Stay tuned as our CPR Team does its work!
In faith,
Rev. Wendy and Rev. Lynn
