Celebrating our Differences!

October 27th, 10-3pm: Unitarian Universalist congregations are called to celebrate multiculturalism and to be inclusive of all. On the surface this is an easy theological statement. In practice, we’ve learned that despite our intention to be more widely inclusive, we often miss the deeper cultural differences and continue our practice of congregational life the way we’ve always done. Then people whose cultures are different than the majority in our congregations continue to experience being excluded, even as we are trying to include them. This day will be an exploration of cross-cultural and intercultural skills and perspectives to help congregational leaders examine and shift these deeper layers of culture to create wider and deeper inclusion. The sessions will include breakout sessions for participants to apply these concepts and skills to particular areas of congregational life and leadership because culture impacts all we do from stewardship and finance, to religious education. Please bring a brown bag lunch. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided.  RSVPs helpful but not required. administrator@UUSaratoga.org.
