May 4th the Women’s Alliance will present  the “Art of Bonsai” with Drew Hamelink at the Unitarian Universalist of Schenectady. Drew’s love of gardening lead him to study bonsai, with bonsai master Pauline Muth of West Charlton. Bonsai is artistic horticulture, to grow and keep the unique and beautiful trees, thriving in an artificial environment. Drew will briefly describe the history of bonsai, what the artist is trying to accomplish and the techniques for doing so. He will bring a number of trees to show examples of different styles and techniques.

Drew and Crys Hamelink have been members of UUSS for 33 years. Drew is a retired GE IT Manager and he has been active in our congregation’s Garden Committee and Buildings and Grounds.
