From the Director of Lifespan RE

Neighboring Faiths (6th & 7th grade):  Today we completed our trip to the Al-Hidaya Islamic Center in Latham, and it went very well. We were warmly greeted by several people who gave us a tour of the mosque and described the essential elements of Islam.

Our hosts provided us with a large conference room to sit with adults and youth from their community, and they encouraged all sorts of questions. In their own words we heard about being Muslim high school students in North Colonie, South Colonie, Ballston Spa, and other schools. We heard the call to worship over the building loudspeaker, and we observed the midday prayer in the mosque. What they shared was very positive, and reinforced the concept of our commonality.

A big THANK YOU to the Al-Hidaya Islamic Center and to RE Advisors Steve Healey and Kerry O’Connor and volunteer drivers and chaperones for making this trip possible for our kids!
