EBWA Program: November 17th

Conserving and Connecting Communities:  Many of us enjoy biking, hiking, walking, bird watching, relaxing on a myriad of trails and paths in the Capital region. Some of us are involved in creating and maintaining this network for the pleasure of all of us. Probably few of us understand the effort and planning required to create and maintain this network.

On November 17th, Lea Montalto-Rook, Development Director of the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy, will speak about this work in “Conserving and Connecting Communities.”

The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy is dedicated to protecting special places in Albany, Schenectady and Montgomery County. Most recently they have been involved in the development of the Helderberg Hudson Rail Trail for biking and walking. They have conserved 3,600 acres; 1,700 acres of these are open to public use for recreation and reflection. Currently, the group has an interest in expanding conserved lands in Schenectady County.

To hear Lea Montalto-Rook’s talk, join the Evening Branch of the Women’s Alliance (EBWA) by 7:45pm. To socialize with the other women of the group, come at 5:45pm for wine or juice and vegetarian dinner at 6:15pm in the Dining Room. Reservations are needed for the dinner and can be made by emailing Gabrielle Reals at ellegr3@gmail.com by Monday, November 14th or by calling her at 382-5685 by Tuesday, November 15th. A gluten-free meal may be requested with your reservation. You may also bring your own meal. Cost of the entire evening is $15; program only is $3.

Looking Ahead: On December 15th, EBWA member Peg Reich will present “Stranger in a Strange Land: A Unitarian in Tel Aviv.”
